4 – 8 April 2018
At our Abbey in Ampleforth. The founders of the Mariapolis had a harrowing yet God-filled experience of the destruction of their lives in 1943-1945. They discovered that Jesus was living among them since by God’s grace their trust in God led them to be united in the name of Jesus. This year Beyond all borders is the theme of the Mariapolis. This ‘retreat with a difference’ will also have many opportunities for dialogue, celebration, relaxation and fun! Families especially find a home as do singles young and old, priests, nuns and religious.
The Focolare Movement emerged from the crumbled ruins of war-ravaged Italy, sparked by the light of the Gospel lived amongst people of all ages and backgrounds. They soon realised that what they had lived through led them to realise they were united in the Name of Jesus, and He lives among us if we let him.
The Mariapolis began as a summer gathering to rest and reflect together, and it continues to this day in many countries across the world. Open to all people of goodwill, Mariapolis 2018 takes up this theme Beyond all borders. Taking place in the days just after Easter, Mariapolis 2018 offers the chance to reflect on this journey against the backdrop of Ampleforth Abbey – a centre of prayer and community for 2 centuries. This ‘retreat with a difference’ will also have many opportunities for dialogue, celebration, relaxation and fun! Families especially find a home as do singles, priests, nuns and religious young, and old. See John and Sue Mills, or Tim and Cath Sullivan for further details. Booking forms are available on the table in front of the Piety Shop.
It is unusual today to see all ages together enjoying life!
