CHURCH UNITY:
Church Unity - Some commentators have observed that the ecumenical movement is "becalmed". Members of Churches together in Britain and Ireland have been pondering that metaphor and relate it to another – the desert. In Christian spirituality the desert is not only a lonely, sometimes hostile place, but also a place of spiritual renewal and growth, a place where faith is strengthened and deepened. If we think that we are "becalmed" in our ecumenical journey we might see this not so much a cause for mourning but an opportunity for renewal and hope. We do hope you will come and pray with us so that there may be a renewed passion for Christian Unity, and see in particular the risen Lord Jesus in our midst.
We might also have a new kind of approach that is reflected in the One Voice Choir and in our Furniture Scheme - practical action of Christians together who then become friends. If anyone can think how we can promote ecumenical friendships through practical things then please make suggestions. Unity between Christians is the future; disunity, the past. If you would like to join the One Voice Choir, contact Margaret Greer on 745209 or Robert Haydock on 431979. Rehearsals are on a Tuesday night usually in our Church.

Comments from participants in other Pastoral Areas:
Very moving, I feel I have been fed
Very thought provoking, very successfully structured to provoke a response from me more than I imagined.
A very deep realisation that it is ‘us’ who take the Church forward in Leaving Safe Harbours.
Very successful – it was like being baptised again only knowing about it.
Certainly leaves you with freshness and a positive outlook on faith: a friendly, welcoming and enjoyable experience.
If you wish to attend you must book with Fr. Jonathan or Lesley by giving your name in. Pamphlets available from the back of Church.
WORD OF LIFE:
God will dwell with them; they will be his people (Rev. 21:3)
In Jesus’ teachings there is the key for allowing God to dwell among us: ‘Love one another as I have loved you’ (see Jn 13:34). Mutual love is the key to the presence of God. ‘If we love one another, God lives in us,’ (1 Jn 4:12), because, as Jesus says, ‘where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them’ (Mt 18:20).
Full text of the Word of Life is available on the cupboards just outside the piety Shop. Please help yourself. On Monday is the Word of Life meeting in the Priory House from 7.00 – 9.00 pm
